När jag står på scen känner jag mig som mest levande. Endorfinerna sprudlar och känner att ingenting kan stoppa mig. På scen är jag odödlig. Den känslan delar jag nog med de flesta inom musikbranschen, men tyvärr är det inte mer än just en känsla. Jag är varken okrossbar eller odödlig, ingen är det utan vi lever alla under samma villkor här i livet.

 

Under Melodifestivalen engagerar sig hela svenska folket med visionen att deras favorit bidrag ska gå vidare. Folk röstar, media skriver och enorma summor läggs på evenemanget. Det är fantastiskt att se och jag är mycket tacksam över att jag fick den stora äran att gå vidare. Men det känns samtidigt orättvist. För hur kan det vara så att vissa människors öden, mitt öde, kan ligga i händerna på svenska folket medan andras styrs av något så litet som en grupp celler? Cancer är en sjukdom där den perfekta balansen i en cell rubbas. Den börjar okontrollerat dela sig, sprida sig och successivt bryta ner kroppen den lever i.

 

Varje år får 10 000 män beskedet att de har prostatacancer. Det är nästan lika många pappor, makar och bröder som ett fullsatt Globen. Vissa av dem går vidare, andra får en andra chans medan en del tvingas acceptera att deras tid är över. Det är därför svårt att förstå att engagemanget inte är större.

 

Jag är övertygad om att det inte ska behöva vara så! Jag har sett svenska folkets engagemang, att vi kan om vi vill, och jag är därför säker på att vi kan ge fler människor chansen att gå vidare. Jag skriver för att jag vill lyfta fram cancerfrågan och ge fler möjligheten att känna sig levande. Tillsammans kan vi ta makten från sjukdomen och låta alla njuta av det goda på livets scen.

When I’m on stage I feel most alive. Endorphins are rushing through my body and I feel like nothing can stop me. On stage, I am invincible. This is a feeling I probably share with most people in the music industry, but unfortunately it is nothing but a feeling. I'm neither unbreakable nor immortal, no one is, we all share the same conditions here in life.

 

During the Swedish finals of the Eurovision song contest a lot of people get engaged in the hope that their favorite entry will proceed and get to the final in Europe. People vote, media writes about it and an enormous amount of money is spend on the event. It is amazing to watch, and I am very grateful since the people of Sweden voted for me go to Europe. Although I must admit that it feels unfair. How can it be so that some people's destiny, my destiny, lies in the hands of a whole country, while others are controlled by something as small as a group of cells? Cancer is a disease where the perfect balance of a cell gets out of order. It starts to divide uncontrollably, spread and gradually break down the body it lives in.

 

Every year 10 000 men get diagnosed with prostate cancer in Sweden. It is almost the same amount of fathers, husbands and brothers as there are spaces in Globen, where we hold our Swedish song contest . Some of them move on, others get a second chance and a few of them are forced to accept that their time here is over. It is therefore difficult to understand why so few are engaged in this question.

 

I’m convinced that it doesn’t have to be this way! I have seen and experienced the engagement and ambition of the Swedish and European audience. I am therefore certain that together we can give more people the chance to move on. I write this, since I want to remind everyone about this terrifying disease.  I want to give more people the opportunity to feel alive. Together we can overcome cancer and let everyone enjoy their time on the stage of life.
