Stupid with you

The ‘Saade’ album previews – Day 5: ‘Stupid With You’

by scandipop on June 22, 2011

Today we continue our Eric Saade album previews with a charming song that’s turned out to be one of our big favourites…

‘Stupid With You’
Music & Lyrics: Jason Gill/Fredrik Kempe/Robert Fredriksson/Eric Saade
Produced by: Jason Gill

Here we have a return to Eric collaborating with the man that gave him ‘Manboy’, ‘It’s Gonna Rain’, ‘Break Of Dawn’, and of course ‘Popular’ – Fredrik Kempe. So as you’d expect, it’s a tune that’s big on the catchiness, and one of the album’s highlights, to our ears anyway. Our favourite part is the tremendous post-chorus that it’s got. Anthemic doesn’t even begin to describe it! Lyrically, it’s super cute – there’s no heartache, there are no claims of undying love, it’s just Eric singing about how ridiculously happy he finds himself when he’s around that special someone. Is that the warm radiance of a million hearts melting we can feel in the distance?!

‘Saade Vol.1′ is released on June 29th, and you can listen to earlier album clips here.

The ‘Saade’ album previews – Day 3: ‘Someone New’

by scandipop on June 20, 2011

Day 3 of our feature previewing each of the songs from the new Eric Saade album, ‘Saade Vol.1’. And do you know what – we think it’s high time for a ballad!

‘Someone New’
Music & Lyrics by: Jörgen Elofsson/Fredrik Thomander
Produced by: Fredrik Thomander

Regular scandipop readers will know that we love a good Jörgen Elofsson ballad, so we were delighted to discover, and indeed hear, that Jörgen had submitted one of his legendary ballads for Eric Saade to record. Unsurprisingly, ‘Someone New’ is probably our favourite out of all of the slow songs we’ve heard from Eric across his two albums. And we know it’s only pop music, but Christ alive – this one’s a heartbreaker! A forlorn and emotional sounding Eric sings about the loss of his love interest to someone else – someone new. And the melody perfectly accentuates the sadness of the song, by adding an unbearable but brilliant drama to it. We love it.

The ‘Saade’ album previews . Day 2: ‘Me & My Radio’

by scandipop on June 18, 2011

Day 2 of our feature in which we bring you previews of the each of the songs from the new Eric Saade album, and today’s track is ‘Me & My Radio’

‘Me & My Radio’
Music & Lyrics by: Cutfather/Jason Gill/David Davidsen/Remee/Brandon Beal/Engelina Larsen
Produced by: Cutfather/Jason Gill/Daniel Davidsen

One of the more pop orientated cuts on the album, ‘Me & My Radio’ has a delightfully simple melody to it. And the uncomplicated tune is matched by an ever so sweet lyrical message too. Despite being a fast track on an album of mostly up-tempos, this still manages to standout, as it’s the more innocent counterpart to the slightly edgier ‘Killed By A Cop’, ‘Made Of Pop’, and ‘Hearts In The Air’. While the likes of those have been tailored to appeal to radio listeners or club dancefloors, ‘Me & My Radio’ seems like it’s sole focus is to find a place in the hearts of Eric’s younger fans. And we imagine it probably will. It has an unrelenting synth riff running through most of it, not dissimilar to Britney’s ‘Heaven On Earth’. And we’re impressed to see that Eric has recruited Danish pop legends, Cutfather and Remee to help out on this one.

‘Saade Vol.1′ is released on June 29th, and you can listen to earlier album clips here.
